The first Gigantic Inflatable City in the South of the UK is landing soon in Gloucester. Lunar City at GL1 will be an out of this world attraction, complete with slides, a climbing wall, an assault course and plenty more to keep the whole family jumping for joy.
This exciting new attraction will be opening its doors to the public on July 14th – the same doors used by GL1’s regular users. Lunar City will be a sizeable attraction, housed in one-half of the sports hall at the popular community facility.
Billed as a pioneering investment in the future of the community, the park promises to be an exciting activity for families and people of all ages from across the area, as well as those further afield.
The one-of-a-kind facility will include features such as slides, tunnels, an assault course, big bouncy balls and a child’s area. It will also be the home of a fun new brand of fitness classes, in which participants can bounce their way to an Active Life.
Bernie Jones, Chief Executive of Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust – the organisation responsible for popular centres GL1 and Oxstalls, sees Lunar City as a significant step forward for the charity and the county as a whole :
“Health and wellbeing is our priority at Aspire. We are continually striving to set new benchmarks for active lifestyles in Gloucestershire. Lunar City is an innovative opportunity that will set a new bar for fitness and entertainment. It will be an affordable fun activity for the whole family.
With various new recreational attractions popping up at a rising rate, Lunar City will satisfy our goals to advance Gloucestershire forward with the rest of the country and keep our community moving their feet along with it.”
Lise Noakes, Cabinet Member for Culture and Leisure at Gloucester City Council, is also behind the attraction:
“Lunar City is a huge step forward for innovation in Gloucester. Aspire Trust has been responsible for some tremendous schemes historically, and I’m truly excited for this project to kickstart.
Ventures such as this contribute to a culture of activeness. We want to see more families getting active and we can help promote this by providing them with more to do in the city. Projects such as these, help put Gloucester on the map – we should certainly hope to see an increase in visitors to the city.”
Prices will start at £6.50 for under 8’s and £9.50 older children and adults, with discounts for families.
Residents can also expect some other exciting undertakings at GL1. We’re set to roll out Roller Skating from Saturday 16th June.
Sessions will be open between 09.10 and 16.10 on Saturdays and 09:10 – 19:10 on Sundays until 8th July. The roller skating arena will then be open seven days a week from 14th July.
